English Language at a glance:

I think most people can realize how important learning a new language is in their academic and professional life altogether.Especially, if this language is the most commonly used all over the world.However, linguists define the language as follows:"It is the means by which people communicate", we can notice that the methods of teaching one language vary from one country to another.Yet, in case of English, we can see that English is taught for a long time throughout different education stages, while graduates are unable to use English to express themselves well.This is not in fact, due to the difficulty of English as a language to be learnt, but to the fact that teachers use wrong methods to teach it. So to speak, they focus on theoretical knowledge more than they do with the practical part of the language, which is how to communicate and express themselves using this language. English is a language that is mainly based on sounds in pronunciation rather than alphabet; and this is, in fact, unlike some other languages that depend chiefly on the alphabet in both writing and pronunciation as well.so, I think that teachers should be aware of the nature of the language they teach so as to be able to make it easier for their students to understand and learn without difficulty.

We can notice that English Alphabet is divided into two parts: the vowels and the consonants; and these letters produce more sounds in pronunciation, which in turn, makes it difficult for ESL students to realize this fact - without the assistance of their teachers- and also the impact of their native language on their pronunciation besides any possible comparisons involved. However, due to the fact that there are no rules for pronunciation in English; and learners have to memorize the sound of every word they learn, either by listening and imitation or studying the phonetic symbols from the very beginning of their learning to this language so as to build a correct database of vocabulary that help them understand English native speakers and be capable of forming sentences for conversation purposes.However, due to the fact that English vocabulary is derived from different sources like: Latin, German, Danish and French; there is a considerable difference in pronunciation, what makes it challenging to seek a specific rule.
